What I Support

These are causes I support with my money, publicity (wearing their T-shirts or putting a bumper sticker on my car), or with my good thoughts. Please check them out and see if they click with you.

Lenawee Humane Society
I always feel like people can help themselves to a certain degree, but usually when animals are in trouble, it is humanity’s fault.  We adopted both our dogs, Dave and Parker, from here.  For more on them, see the People of Interest page.

Missing Skelton Brothers
I feel a special bond with this case because the boys went missing the same weekend my son was born. I read Jaycee Dugard’s book (a girl who was kidnapped and missing for 18 years before being found alive), and that gives me hope that these boys are still alive somewhere and will be found. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Lenawee County Historical Museum & Archives
This is more my husband’s interest, but I do like to use their genealogy resources and the building is over 100 years old. They need all the resources they can get.

Human Rights Campaign

I support marriage equality for everyone. This group seems to sort of be the centralized hub of that effort. I sport one of their equal sign stickers on my car.

The Toledo Zoo
We bought a membership, so this is the first year we are supporting in a larger way than just with train rides and overpriced cheeseburgers.

Honor Flight Network
Honor Flight is a non-profit organization that flies veterans to Washington D.C. to see their monuments as a small token of our appreciation for their service. Veterans, especially WWII veterans, are dying every day without ever being able to visit the monuments to their service. For more on this great organization, you can read about it here: What I Learned This Week – 10/20/13
